Oranmore Scouts Beavers

We were be delighted to meet with the Oranmore Scouts Beavers section during their overnight camp in Rinville.

The Beavers, aged between 6 and 8 years old, recently visited Oranmore Garda Station, where they learned about the role of An Garda Síochána in the local community. During the visit, Garda Alan spoke about the close working relationship between the Gardaí and Oranmore Maree Coastal Search Unit, particularly when assistance is needed during searches for missing persons in the local coastal areas of Galway Bay.

OMCSU were very happy to continue that learning experience by meeting the Beavers at their camp. Volunteers showed the the children through some of the equipment used by the unit and explain, in an age-appropriate way, how coastal search and safety operations are supported.

Visits like this are a great opportunity for young people to see community spirit in action. They help children understand the value of volunteering, teamwork and resilience, while also showing how local groups and emergency services can work closely together to help keep people safe.
